How to Dress Like a Gentleman In Summer: Tag Heuer Watches and Seersucker

ust because it's hot, doesn't mean you can't dress well. This article is about what you need in order to look your best when the mercury rises.

1. Shorts: Casual wear, end of story. If you're meeting someone for the first time, you may want to reconsider wearing shorts. But if you're hanging out on the weekend or are at a backyard party, shorts are perfect. Ideally, shorts should be 1-5 inches above the knee. If you are going to wear shorts, you should match them with sandals and t-shirts or a polo.

2. Pants: Jeans aren't a good idea if it's hot; their weave is too tight. You should instead choose chinos or dress pants. Wool and high end cotton promote airflow and are very breathable.

3. Shoes: Never wear socks, and if you want to look more formal, think about a leather sandal of the non-flip flop variety. Canvas sneakers are a good idea because of how light they are and they look good with shorts and pants. Boat shoes can be worn sockless. And if you're thinking about leather loafters, make sure that they're Italian, which are usually lighter than the American leathers.

4. Hats: A Panama is a great way to protect yourself from the sun and look good. Linen caps, straw fedoras and tilleys are also good summer hats.

5. Handkerchiefs: Not only can you offer a hankie to a female counterpart for major bonus points, but they're practical to wipe your face in the summer heat and work much better than a shirtsleeve. Plus, they're reusable, so you don't have to worry about the trees. You should launder them frequently so that you always have a clean one. Not to be confused with pocket squares, the handkerchief is carried in the pants pocket and your average white one is cheap, so a gentleman never asks for it back.

6. Seersucker: When wearing this formal blue and white pinstripe jacket, think white shirt and simple diagonal tie. But if you're feeling gutsy, you can wear a light blue or pink shirt and a rich red or paisley tie too. A slick polo works too, but t-shirts are iffy. Shoes should be light buckskin sandals if you're practicing casual.

7. Tag Heuer Watches: This is just one gentlemanly brand. Here are some others, Bulova watches, Cartier watches, Movado watches, or even a Concord men watch will do. They will help you keep track of the time and stay looking good.

Now that you know what to wear, it's time to go shopping and pick up everything you need. Good luck summer shopper!
